DENTAL EMERGENCIES

What Constitutes a Dental Emergency?

There are few things worse than suffering from dental pain, making prompt attention not only to a medical issue but a comfort issue, as well. There are many reasons why you need emergency dental care, including:

  • Fractured or broken tooth
  • Knocked-out tooth
  • A filling that fell out
  • Damage to your dental devices
  • An abscess

Any time your mouth is in pain, no matter the cause, call Polwarth Family Dentistry to speak with one of our staff about next steps.

If you’re experiencing severe pain or excessive bleeding, please go to your nearest emergency room.

What Should I Do if My Tooth is Knocked Out?

If you’ve lost or broken a tooth in an accident, there are a few important steps you can take before you see the dentist:

  • First, locate and rinse the tooth (with plain water)
  • Stick the tooth back into the socket
  • Hold the tooth in place with your tongue or gauze

If you’re unable to stick the tooth back into the socket, preserve it in saliva or a glass of milk. If you’re unable to locate the tooth, place some gauze over the socket, and bite down gently to keep it in place and stem any bleeding.

What Emergency Services Can I Get?

Once you arrive at Polwarth Family Dentistry, the dental technicians can provide a number of services, including:

  • Immediate tooth extractions
  • Emergency root canals or fillings

Dr. Polwarth is able to provide you with a number of quick solutions.
